This weekend was pretty productive. I walked the dogs our prescribed 2.3 miles both Saturday and Sunday. We didn’t run into any snakes this time…yippee…

On Saturday we did the loop in 40 minutes, which is the fastest I think we can do it, given that:

-The trail is mega hilly

-Petey’s legs are 3-4 inches long

-I still haven’t reached my ultimate fitness goal

Sunday we poked along a bit and it took 45 minutes to finish the loop.

I still can't figure this out. On Saturday when we moved it out and didn’t stop for any doggy sniffing about time, the dogs picked up ticks. Petey had 2 and Buster had at least one. I gave them both baths after the walk, partly because the trail was kind of gooshy and wet and partly to knock off any unattached ticks…well, that didn’t work so well.

Today Buster and I avoided ticks, Petey had one. I think Petey is just easy pickin’s for the ticks. He is just too close to the ground and practically bald as well.

I did my first lawn mowing of the year. Saturday I mowed around the perimeter of the fence. Today I mowed inside the fence. Basically, I did most of the stuff that has to be push mowed (except for the $%#*% ditch, which I hate to mow)

Jorgie helped me trim back the ornamental grasses today. We still have to do the ones along the road. We bought these cool electric clippers that work really well, or at least better than trimming with hand trimmers, which is what I did last year. Some of these grasses have stems like bamboo, so they aren’t that much fun to trim.

Today we went to the library. Jorgie got a pile of Martha Grimes mysteries. I got a mix of novels plus I got The Dog Whisperer’s book. Its an ok book, but really light on actually teaching anything about dog training. I definitely like his show better. I did learn that you should never let your dogs run out of the house before you when you open the door. We have already trained the mutts not to do that, so I guess we have done something right!

I also bought my neice Nicole’s wedding gift. Online gift registries are so kewl! The gifts are purchased on will be mailed directly to Nic and Madou…how great is that?

Well, its after 9pm and I’m about to turn into a pumpkin, so I better go hit the hay.
