I think I’m finally mostly over the crud that laid me low last week. I spent a lot of time either sleeping or laying on the sofa. I ran through all my DVR’ed copies of SG1- thankfully we had borrowed season’s 1 & 2 from Banzai ages ago (thx Jim!) and I started to run through those as well. By Sunday I was mostly functional again, and I made it through a full day of work today.
Jorgie and I helped out at the Friends of the Library Children’s book sale on Sunday. It was a much slower sale than the “big” book sale in Sept. I think we brought in between $50 and $60 in sales on our shift. Since it's all profit, and there were 2 sets of cashiers..I guess that wasn't too bad, and every little bit does help the Library out. During the Fall sale in Sept, we had to have done several hundred dollars in sales in just a 2 hour shift. Anyway, yesterday’s sale was much more laid back and we got to chat more with some of the other volunteers, which was cool.
Well, since I was knocked out sick, I don’t have much other news to share. Thankfully I was able to keep up with work via email, and Mark J. kept things rolling along, so I wasn’t swamped when I went back to work Friday.
I didn’t think it would happen, what with the severe heat this summer and the ongoing lack of rain, but we actually have somewhat decent Fall colors. I haven’t taken any strolls back through ‘our’ woods yet this Fall- its still a bit soon for that. I like to wait until the chance of running into a snake has dropped back a bit more. Its getting close to the time for our annual bonfire. It may be an homage to Burning Man, only we will have to go with Burning Furniture. Last year being the burning of Banzai’s chair, and this year we will (sans cushions, of course!) burn our old 1970’s sofa…or at least the wood/wicker frame of said sofa. The burn pile is just about right- now we just have to hope for some rain, as its way to dry to contemplate a burn at this point.
