I only thought it was cold several days back when the temps were in the 20's. Now after a few days and nights of 6, 8 and 10 degrees, 27 degrees felt balmy.
I bought a coat for Petey because the wind was blowing right through his sweater. The coat isn't all that thick. Taking Jorgie's suggestion I made a pattern from the coat and made a new one from some fleece I had laying around. It wasn't that hard to make, so I cut out another one which I'll sew up tomorrow. This one is flourescent orange on one side and tiger print on the other---sweet!
Erik and I were talking awhile ago about ways to raise money for Columbia Second Chance and the Humane Society. I was thinking that we could use our kiln, make some cool doggie treat cookie jars, then sell them, and now I'm thinking we could make some dog coats....if I knew how to knit I'd make some sweaters as well. Now we just need to make a few items and figure out if they are saleable (is that a word?)
I have a faux woodstove! Jules is so cool. She told me about this electric faux woodstove that she had found at Orshlens. I wanted one as well, so she drove out to Orshelens in Columbia...they didnt' have one, so Jules called her Mom and she found one for me in Boonville. Carole and Jules Dad went and bought it for me and Jules drove out to Boonville the next night to bring it back for me. RIght now I'm looking at my little "fire"...it is very cozy and looks very realistic. The heater aint so bad either.
I'm really looking forward to the weekend. Work has been pretty durn busy since last Sept. or so, and it just seems to get progressively busier. I have several projects in the works and seeveral more in the queue. Its nice to keep busy- it certainly makes the time fly by, but this week it started wearing on me. That could also be because of the crappy cold weather and the fact that we are still working on potty training Petey, so I'm not getting many hours of consecutive sleep...at most 3-4 hours at a time. Since the weather is going to suck all weekend I'm planning to take a couple of epic naps in front of my faux fireplace.

Talk to John Hay about the knitting. He's always doing it at the brunches and game nights so he might need projects.
